About The Event
When kate spade new york declared their commitment to providing 100,000 women and girls with
empowerment and mental health support by 2025, Her Campus Media wanted to help. Breaking the
stigma around mental health is important to both brands and their audiences, so it was an easy choice
for them to team up and create “Let’s Talk,” an annual event made for the Black Gen Z community.
The “Let’s Talk” series is a safe space and platform for Black college women to connect, share their stories,
and find the resources they need to feel empowered throughout their mental health journeys.
“Let’s Talk: Black Women Exploring Journeys in Mental Health” in 2022 was focused on
having hard but honest conversations about mental wellness in the Black community, and shining a
light on Black women’s mental health. Included in the programming were therapists, clinicians, and
Black college students. Each of them told their stories and shared advice with the audience, ensuring that they
were left with a sense of knowledge, strength, and power, as well as a new, supportive community.
This year, kate spade new york and Her Campus are putting a focus on another, lighter side of the
mental health journey: finding peace and joy. The panels will be hosted by inspiring Black women
who will be highlighting topics like how to enjoy the little things in life and seeing the beauty in both
the successes and challenges of your journey.
The 2023 “Let’s Talk” program will be an impactful and joyful celebration, and an opportunity to continue the conversation around mental wellness and empowering Black women in their everyday lives.
The event series is starting at Alabama State University on April 14th and will be going on the road to two more campuses this fall.
